Col. Lillian Anita Dixon has made the Army her career, but as she notes in this great profile (from South Carolina's The State), the lessons she has learned, from her Army family childhood to her ROTC days to her current role as garrison commander at Ft. Jackson, should be taken up by anyone leading a business. I would add that anyone interested in making the best contribution to their career should listen up, too! Everyone has the potential to display her leadership. The methods sound easy, but you have to make sure you really adhere to them. Listen. Treat bosses, colleagues, and newbies with respect. Invest personally in your work. Col. Dixon credits the Army with teaching her these truths; it is a great testament to service leading to a life of success. Keep it mind throughout your career searching and have a great week!
